Huntington Station Mother Arrested For Alleged Murder-For-Hire Scheme To Win Ex-Husband Back

A Long Island mother is facing charges for an alleged murder-for-hire scheme targeting her former mother-in-law and a 5-year-old girl in an effort to win her ex-husband back, prosecutors said.

Elsy Rodriguez Garcia, 25, of Huntington Station, was arraigned in Central Islip court on attempted murder and conspiracy charges on Long Island on Tuesday, July 30. She pleaded not guilty and is currently behind held in lieu of $750,000 cash bail or bond.

According to prosecutors, Garcia was allegedly angry that her ex was spending so much time with his mother and daughter, who he had with a different woman.

The indictment alleges that Garcia hoped that by killing the, she could form her own family with her ex-husband and the 2-year-old child they share. Garcia allegedly attempted to attempt to enlist her former brother-in-law to complete the hit, which was planned for when the two alleged victims were to be visiting Ecuador.

Investigators said that police doctored an image of two bodies that appeared to be dead in an Ecuadorian street and sent it to Garcia, at which point Garcia allegedly sent a $6,000 payment.

Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini reportedly said that the plot came undone when her ex-husband found out about the plot and told the police.
